Dear Vinita,
I am interested in journaling and rediscovering treasures of poetry from my past journaling experience. I am typing them, on computer I guess it’s keying in now, and feel called to continue to share with family and friends.
Peace,
Joan

Writing in its many forms is often a great way to explore what’s going on in our lives. Blessings on your poetry and journaling, and thanks for joining us–vinita

Bless you, Vinita.
Changing seasons…like, uh, menopause? My short riff: love it! more energy! And I always have more to say about how life after 50 (way after) rocks. How might I persuade you to show up on Twitter?

I think we’re on Twitter, but will double-check. Keep talking positive–some of us are struggling! Peace–Vinita

Thank you Vinta, You seem to come along right on time with a relevant insight and questions. My comment is one of energy…how to get enough? Here in Oz we are called the sandwhich generation ministering to elderly parents and grandchildren as well. Life certainly hasn’t slowed down but the need for prayer, reflection and connectedness has never been greater. My parish is now priestless and parishioners have a greater load ministering to each other…exciting times ahead! Thank you again for your wonderful support.

Energy is the question, isn’t it? I certainly don’t have the answer, but I don’t think we should give up looking for it! Peace–Vinita

I’m delighted to know that I’m not too late to hop aboard this train! Midlife transition–and the spiritual surprises it brings–have been of interest to me for several years now. So I’m quite happy to see this community reactivate.

I didn’t really see the midlife transition coming–but boy, did it see me coming! I now look at women my age and older and think, “You have pushed through to the second half of life and lived to tell about it. You are a champion!” The rewards are great. But in my experience, the journey is unsettling and painful. I look forward to discussing all of this and more in the weeks and months ahead.

Suzanne, I’m a person for whom midlife transitions have been tough and not very graceful. So you have company! Please continue to post! Peace–Vinita

Dear Vinita,

I am writing to express my appreciation to your introduction with new areas to investigate.

I realize that this is mainly directed toward women. I am writing since my role in life has reversed following an ‘at home’ accident that has permanetly disabled. I like to refer to living today as my ‘Formation’, how changes affect my prayer life, contemplation, studying our Church’s tradition & scripture, all play a p[art in my growth toward holiness with the gift of each day & and my daily offering up the 24/7 I live with daily.

I look forward to your comments as well as the topics delivered by the Holy Spirit.

To the greater glory of God!

Thank you Vinita. I will accompany you from time to time, but have just begun a 34-week retreat (19th annot.) with some folks here in CA, so will be giving this my focus. But your focus on women, especially on women growing wiser is great (and needed by most women) and I look forward to connecting w. you (and your blog) & tying it to my home retreat. I will see how my time goes! Thank you so much for providing this resource to so many women.

I’m thrilled that you are back and with such a powerful inspiration! Woohoo!
I’ve been waiting and checking once in awhile and I have to say that I couldn’t even imagine the great Graces that God Himself were preparing for me and for us through your time of work and “remodeling”!!!
I’m almost 50 years-old and am facing exactly this need of reflection and discernment and I can tell you that there are not much material around about it….! There are many good things for new weds, new moms, teens, women working and parenting…..but just a few on this phase…! I’ve been looking for anything that could contribute for my santification through all this and after all my experiences….and now you come with this !!! God is so good! And you really are His instrument!
God bless you!

Thanks for returning. I believe we all want to grow wiser as we grow older. Roles change as our children grow and it is good to be able to talk about this.

I am so glad you are back. And I love the focus of Women Growing Wiser. As I grow older I definitely appreciate the blessings God has given to me much more than when I was younger. I think the gift of wisdom as one grows older is one of the greatest gifts God bestows on us.

What a wonderful and complex idea! The idea to focus on Women Growing WIser is such a powerful area. I hope to see this topic offering some ideas and reflection on how women can and should support each other in our wisdom year journey.

Hi Vinita and all Growing Wiser Women. I too am glad to see you are continuing with this site. It might be a long winter ahead and I look forward to sharing and listening online in the weeks and months to come. While at a local retreat last Lent, I actually took along your DDF book and meditated and did some of the spiritual exercises. It was one of the best parts of my quiet time at the retreat. Thanks very much.

Dear Vinita: I returned today from a women’s overnight retreat which helped me regain my focus. I soon will be 70 years old and am still asking God what he wants me to do in life. My beloved spouse is deceased, my children grown up, and have retired from an active life in the field of religious education. I am looking forward to “Growing Wiser Women”; I believe that our growth never ends here on earth if we are open to the Spirit. With an aching body attached to a love of God and the Church, I hope to keep moving on this journey of life on earth. Thank you for keeping our minds and spirits alive to keep serving and loving our God and His people.
