Friday’s Reflection: What Is Love, Really?

by Vinita Hampton Wright on 06/08/2012

What is love, really? Where do you find it, and how do you know when it’s sitting right in your living room?

God is love. I previously thought love was a verb, an action on the human level, but as i experience God and His invitation, I consider Love as both noun and verb. Love – God – sustains everything in existence and ” to love ” is a participation in the Holy Spirit who involves us in the work of God. Abstract as this is, how else do you describe the mystery of self awareness but out of the God who courts us into unity with them, the Trinity?

Peace of Christ!

Please keep talking about Love.
Me too I totally agree with Phillip and Helen and the more we talk I feel the more we love , just a reminder. Find some one new to love in a new way each day a colleague (hard sometimes) but then I feel I make a new relationship. A neighbour also not always easy. My motto find something good in some I dislike and tell them. Then may think I am after something like , ? a car ride or ? to borrow something, to be sincere I can also tell them what annoys me most about them and ask that person the same question. I am going to try that to day. Will let you know.
Love,
Breda

I seem to have entered a women’s discussion; I feel like a “duck out of water”. Brenda, you are talking about practicing Christian love; an approach that is as divers as your, my situation. I believe the more I experience God (Love), the more I reflect God; it’s a mystic’s outlook. It sounds abstract, theoretical but how can a person become God’s image unless he/she participates (prayer, biblical reflection, Church attendance, answering Christ’s call ) in the Trinity however limited our human condition. All i can say: through the Holy Spirit, it works even though I’m clumsy at the process.
Read the Psalms, they reflect the author’s relationship with God.
Peace of Christ!
